..to the new website of the Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization. We are pleased to announce that HVAO has been incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c)(19) non profit corporation. In addition, the Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization has been approved as a Shared Interest Group (SIG) of the Harvard Alumni Association and, though independent, it will derive marketing and support benefits from the HAA.
There is a proud history of military service to our country, by more than 10 generations of the men and women of Harvard. This service ranges from King Philip’s War of 1675, to the many who are currently on active duty throughout the world. We join others at Harvard in appreciation of this continuing commitment. As a recent President of Harvard remarked, all of the men and women of Harvard in the Armed Forces “are doing something profoundly important...something that is very noble, and something that is crucial”.
The basic mission of the Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization is to recognize, honor, support and celebrate our combined service, in an affirmative and apolitical manner.
We invite all members of this Harvard Community - students, alumni, faculty and staff - who have served, or are serving, in the United States Military to join us in this “Long Crimson Line”.
